White abstract ikebana vessel, ceramic, gloss–matte faux marble glaze, four lateral appendages extending from an oval well, pedestal base, retains original kiln sticker, produced by a now-defunct and highly coveted kiln, designed for use with kenzan, strong horizontal spread, sculptural standalone presence.

Japan Modern interviewed the former CEO of this defunct kiln in Japan, who explained that the faux marble glaze was achieved by combining two white glazes. This model belongs to a series of highly avant-garde forms produced last century, with surviving examples now increasingly scarce. An original period piece retaining its original kiln sticker.
