A sculptural pedestal vase combining a kidney-shaped well and has a saturated orange glaze and ribbed surface detailing emphasising the contrast between curved and geometric elements. Retains the original kiln sticker on the well fascia. Orange is actually a rare colour for ikebana vases from last century. Bright colours like orange and yellow were considered to compete for attention visually with similarly coloured floral matter.
