White Vessel
A long white vase in the form of a folded paper boat with upturned ends. The vessel has a deep well and is heavily crazed in a controlled way. This vase was made by a now-defunct kiln in Tokoname and retains the original kiln sticker. Accentuating the vessel’s curved cutaways and layered construction. These heavy-set thick vases of yesteryear are no longer made. A typical vase weighs 1kg and this model is 1.3kg. Contemporary vase makers are not as generous with clay and glaze usage.
As a vintage piece, it may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks and minor staining. The photographs provide further detail on its condition and appearance.
