Cast Iron Tripod - Battered Box
A genuinely scarce Japanese cast-iron suiban identified by its original packaging as Nambu ironware and dating from the early 1970s. Frequently seen in period ikebana publications, its severe three-legged form has become a cult object among modernist ikebana collectors.
This example retains its original product label, heavily aged cardboard box and an unidentified sticker on the base that appears to be associated with the foundry maker. The black finish shows surface wear and scattered internal rust, concentrated within the three shallow casting depressions and along sections of the inner rim. Please refer to the photographs for condition.
