Blue Flame
A tall, slender vase with a twisting black body opening into an asymmetrical blue mouth. The glaze shifts from charcoal to vivid turquoise and cobalt, intensifying its flame-like vertical movement. Made by a now-defunct ikebana kiln last century - this abstract model has featured prominently in Sogetsu arrangements over the decades. This now-defunct kiln was renowned for pushing the visual extremes for abstraction and modernism whilst challenging traditional parameters of how an ikebana container should look.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. The photographs provide further detail on the individual character and condition of the piece.
