Black Horn

A tall sculptural ceramic vase with a sharply curving horn form and matte black finish. Its taut asymmetry and monolithic surface create a bold avant-garde presence.

There is one aperture at the base and one at the top of the long neck. Sufficiently strange in form to command attention. This model was made by a now-defunct ikebana kiln in Tokoname. This was model was ubiquitous decades ago but is now a rare sight to see. Contemporary vase designs from this century don't make the "strange forms" anymore.

Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. The photographs provide further detail on the individual character and condition of the piece.
