A compact black vase formed from two rounded lobes joined at the centre. Its matte surface and subtly faceted asymmetrical contours give the form a playful biomorphic character.

This is the first iteration of the *Parent and Child* vase designed by Sofu Teshigahara, founder of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. The later iteration has a more bulbous form and smoother glaze, without the subtle faceting seen here. This earlier version is considerably less frequently encountered.

Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
