Cast Iron Tripod - Foundry Leaflet
SKU: vase-260820-062
Black Tripod
A genuinely scarce Japanese cast-iron suiban, produced by a long-established foundry in Iwate Prefecture and commonly dated to the early 1970s. Its elongated basin and severe tripod profile are recognised from period ikebana publications and historic exports to the American West Coast modernist community. Coveted by practitioners across multiple ikebana schools and by modernist collectors, this technically demanding form has become an insider icon—rarely encountered and quietly prestigious to own.
Accompanied by its original foundry leaflet outlining the history and tradition of cast-iron production in the region.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, minor oxidation, casting variation, marks and other characteristics acquired over time. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the product description.
