Sakura Bark Suiban

Sculptural pedestal ikebana vase with a single wide opening and deeply cut lip. Made by a coveted now-defunct ikebana kiln in Tokoname, its glossy glaze simulates sakura-tree bark marked by pale lichen. I have encountered this model several times over the years; the distinctive bark-and-lichen treatment was one of the kiln’s signature glazes.
