White Mushroom

A rounded white suiban vase with a low sweeping globe mushroom-like profile, circular central shallow aperture. The slightly surreal vessel retains the original kiln sticker. The well in the single footed pedestal vase is deceivingly shallow. The vessel cannot hold long floral stems like an orthodox nageire. It is a shallow suiban vase which requires a kenzan for optimum utility. The previous owner’s name is written on the underside of the vase in katakana and there is staining in the interior of the well. The large bulbous hood of the mushroom makes this a visually strange vessel - similar to the cascade of chocolate on a chocolate fondue.
