Dancer on Wooden Tray

Dancer on Wooden Tray

A vintage Japanese cast iron dancer with raised arms, a pointed hat and a curved openwork body, mounted on a shaped wooden base. The figure’s twisting silhouette and pierced torso contrast with the broad, shallow wood base, where warm brown grain and visible wear bring out the surface. Dark iron with brown and gold patina highlights.

Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, finish and patina variation, casting irregularities, mould seams, minor rust or oxidation to the iron, and wear, scuffs, edge wear, fading and staining to the wooden base and other characteristics acquired over time.
