Turquoise Pedestal
A tall pedestal vase formed from a rectangular upper well and an elongated cylindrical stem. The pale turquoise glaze has a matte, dry-textured surface with natural kiln variation, softening the strict geometric construction.
This vase is stamped to the base. This murky green was a trademark colour of this kiln. Every green was a different shade. Japan Modern has seen dozens of shades of green from this kiln over the years. This elongated bold modernist form pushes the definition of what a vase should look like.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. The photographs provide further detail on the individual character and condition of the piece.
