Brown Squashed
A low crescent-shaped ceramic vase with a sweeping asymmetrical profile and variegated brown glaze. Its strong lateral movement and organic abstraction place it firmly within the modernist ikebana tradition. The form itself is a rounded bowl with two apertures in the well wall but it has been squashed manually to completely close the original round aperture and expose four newly formed apertures. This kiln made many strange forms last century and this model still retains the original kiln sticker.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. The photographs provide further detail on the individual character and condition of the piece.
