Beige Arc

This is a rare and heavy collector's piece with crystal clear provenance. A low crescent-shaped ikebana trough with raised ends and a warm, dry-textured surface. Repeated concentric-circle impressions run across the fascia, giving the vessel the appearance of an excavated modernist relief. This was made by a now-defunct Tokoname ikebana kiln and still retains the original kiln sticker and is stamped to the base too. This was made last century when kilns were generous with clay and glazes and were less inhibited with wild designs. Pockmarked and pitted, this piece is perfectly imperfect. It weighs in at 2.2kg which is more than double the weight of a typical 1kg ikebana vase.

Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. These qualities reflect the history and individual character of each piece.
