Black Canoe
A broad, canoe-shaped suiban with a gently folded form, angular asymmetrical rim and dense speckled surface. Its low sweeping profile and pointed ends capture 1970s Japanese modernism at its most confident, while the well is finished in a distinctive crackled glass glaze. Sculptural, rugged and unmistakably of its period, it reflects a design language rarely encountered in contemporary production.
