A highly coveted pedestal-form ikebana vase, defined by its broad, finely poised body and single tapered foot. The slender profile creates a delicate tension between visual weight and balance, giving the vessel an almost suspended presence. Japan Modern has come across this rare model a few times over the years and it has generated considerable interest every time. Weighing in at a hefty 2.8kg and with a long span 41.5cm width, it is nearly three times the average weight of a typical ikebana vase.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time. This model has some staining and kenzan friction ware inside the well interior.
