Black Trumpet
Black ceramic twists into an irregular open form defined by bold curves, cut-outs and a strong central void. Its dark surface reinforces the graphic silhouette. The vessel has 3 awkward apertures which mimic an abstract trumpet. This form was made by a now-defunct kiln in Tokoname. The base is stamped accordingly with the kiln name. Expressive manipulation of mass and negative space gives the piece an avant-garde, abstract character. This is a rare and coveted model in a neutral colour and clear provenance.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time.
