Blue Suiban

Blue Suiban

A rectangular ceramic suiban with gently bowed walls, raised corners and short feet. Pale blue-grey glaze contrasts with mustard-toned edges and scattered brown square reliefs across the well fascia, giving the low vessel a graphic, architectural character. This now-defunct kiln was renowned for making avant-garde and strange forms which pushed the boundaries of ikebana vessel norms. The kiln name is incised on the base.

Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time.
