Blue Ripple

Blue Ripple

A blue glazed ceramic ikebana vase with a long diamond shaped opening, two raised ends, rows of wavy relief and short tripod feet. The glaze has a controlled crackle effect and the Kyoto based kiln which made this is clearly stamped on the base. This is a high grade piece which has lasted decades and will provide good utility for many more decades to come. Ikebana ceramics which are generous with clay and glaze are becoming increasingly rare. When this piece was made, materials were plentiful and artisans were generous with their usage. This is worthwhile owing and if you carefully inspect thousands of ikebana vases like we do, you will come to recognise high temperature glazed and material-generous pottery pieces like this piece from last century.

Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time.
