White Yacht - Rare & Coveted Form
A white ceramic ikebana vase with a central upright neck, wide pointed loops on both sides and short feet below. Its open silhouette recalls a small yacht. The kiln which made this is now-defunct and also made the iconic bison vase. This yacht form is iconic and is widely published in many ikebana publications from last century. This is worthwhile owning and the frequency of availability is decreasing with the years. This is a rare chance to acquire one. This is highly coveted by modernists and ikebanists. It is favoured by Sogetsu ikebana practitioners and is also frequently used by Ikenobo practitioners for jiyuka arrangements. This form has been imitated by many kilns over the decades. This model is the gold standard and most recognisable.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time.
