Blue Canoe
A long, shallow blue ceramic ikebana vase with pointed ends and a broad opening across the top. The kiln sticker of the now-defunct kiln which made this vessel is is visible on the front well fascia. The base is small so will require a smaller kenzan and finesse for ikebana utility and the proportions stretched - a visually arresting piece from any viewing angle. Even if left empty, the sharp angular form does make the viewer question its purpose as a vessel.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, kiln marks, minor staining and other characteristics acquired over time.
