A very large, tall and asymmetrical vase formed around two offset necks and a deep U-shaped cut-out. A recessed circular relief punctuates the broad front plane, while the matte, dry-textured turquoise surface with natural kiln variation reinforces its architectural character. The forceful silhouette holds its own without floral matter, reading equally as a standalone abstract sculpture. This kiln made several models in this matte turquoise glaze and the forms are consistently biomorphic and eccentric. This is a substantial piece in terms of having considerable scale and a bold modernist aesthetic.
