Deer Tray — Attributed to Tadahiro Baba
A vintage Japanese cast iron deer on an oval wooden tray, attributed to Tadahiro Baba and corresponding to the deer from his Room Friend series. A minimalist form with branching antlers, long arched neck and open tapering body, rising from a honey-brown tray with a central plinth. The tray edge is inscribed as a 1965 commemorative gift from Nippon Life Insurance Mutual Company to mark joining the company, distinguishing this example from the standard production.
Vintage pieces may show signs of age and prior use, including surface wear, finish and patina variation, casting irregularities, mould seams, minor rust or oxidation, staining and other characteristics acquired over time.
