This is a studio pottery abstract piece acquired from the collection of a retired career ikebana instructor after a 14-hour round road trip. Black Cave was an outstanding piece among a substantial group of vessels. Its bold black form combines a curved, boat-like body with a jagged upper profile and multiple apertures—an ikebanist’s indulgence offering exceptional creative scope. Sweeping cream glaze marks and deliberate drips cut across the dark surface, reinforcing its visually commanding sculptural presence.
